The Transformation of the Professor’s Role
Current scenarios are transforming the professor: they cease to be merely a source of information to become a source of knowledge and inspiration. This shift requires:
- A new balance between teaching depth and breadth;
- Moving from traditional classes to spaces for collaboration and team guidance;
- Adoption of models such as CDIO (Conceive-Design-Implement-Operate), which defines new standards for engineering.
- Learn more about the CDIO Syllabus and the CDIO model.
Program Objectives
- Contigo+ aims to provide the academic community with a reflection on:1. Pedagogical Relationship: Adapting the Professor-Student relationship to today’s reality.
2. Inclusion: Valuing diversity as a pillar of University development.
3. Innovation: Creating teaching strategies for challenges in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Architecture.
Format of Activities
The program consists of training activities to identify and exchange practices, including international lectures, use of digital tools, and Feedback/Feedforward practices. The activities are organized as:
- Scientific-Pedagogical Workshops: Regular sessions (at least once per semester).
- MOOCs: For online attendance.
- Departmental Events: Sessions integrated into “Department Days” (upon approval by the CP/CC).
An Integrated Program
Contigo+ is one of the three components of the strategy for Teaching Quality at Técnico, acting together with:
- 1. Pedagogical Innovation Projects (PIP): A funding initiative for innovation in Curricular Units, promoted by the Pedagogical Council with support from the Scientific Council (CC) and Management Council (CG). The projects aim to update the teaching model (especially 1st and 2nd cycles) through active methodologies (e.g., case studies, problem-based learning, active learning, flipped classrooms, learning-based on research) and digital solutions.
- 2. José Tribolet Award for Digital Innovation in Education (powered by Deloitte): Established in 2024, it annually distinguishes professors or teams standing out in the development and implementation of new technologies and digital methodologies in education.
